Overview

The Assistant Hospital Support Services Manager is responsible for assisting in the planning, coordination, and management of clinical support services within the healthcare facility. This role involves overseeing essential functions of the Support Services Department to ensure smooth operations of the hospital environment. The Assistant Manager works closely with the Hospital Support Services Manager to implement strategies that improve efficiency, and maintain high-quality standards in patient care services. They are also responsible for supervising staff, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations, and managing vendor relationships.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a positive and supportive culture to encourage growth opportunities for employees. 
  • Build a dependable team (recruit, hire and train) in collaboration with Talent Acquisition department. 
  • Communicate with Human Resources team to understand and uphold processes and procedures. 
  • Handle all employee relations issues in-house, using the People Team as a resource when appropriate. 
  • Contribute to training and staffing management 
  • Oversee schedule and ensure that all positions have coverage at all times, including employee break times. 
  • Weekly communication via email with updates, schedules and any other pertinent info needed by location contacts and clients.  
  • Frequent visits to all locations for employee and client interaction, coverage as needed. 
  • Manage any unforeseen event (code red, etc.) 
  • Ability to assist in de-escalation, not act as security.  
  • Adhere daily to VPNE professionalism and appearance standards. 
  • Enforce correct VPNE uniform with staff and enforce VPNE policies during every shift. 
  • Track and submit expenses per VPNE policy. 
  • Understand and support key performance indicators for VPNE. 

Qualifications

Years of Experience: 2+  years’ experience in Healthcare or Leadership role 

Language Skills: Proficient in English both verbally and written

Education Requirements: Associates or bachelor’s degree preferred 

 

 

Requirements:

  • Work occasionally requires contact with patients and/or visitors, which involves courtesy.
  • Acts with integrity, honesty and knowledge that promote the culture, values and mission.
  • Maintains a calm demeanor during periods of high volume or unusual events to keep team operating to standard and to set a positive example for the shift team.
  • Availability to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays. 
  • Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office, Ceridian Dayforce, hospital electronic charting software
  • Ability to comply with occupational health requirements set forth by hospital
